As a lifelong athlete, I’ve been devoted to fueling my body with the most nutritious foods for many decades. I was a vegetarian for a short time when I was a pro triathlete. Another time, I ate three hamburgers every day for several weeks when I was diagnosed as iron deficient. In recent years, I’ve been an enthusiastic promoter of the primal/paleo/keto/ancestral diet. I was strict ketogenic for several months (with daily blood metering, ugh!) and even had a successful experiment with strict carnivore and carnivore-ish. When it comes to healthy eating, we often hear the call for “Everything in moderation,” but I like applying a Mark Twain insight here: “Everything in moderation, including moderation.” Today’s modernized citizens are the fattest and sickest population in the history of humanity, so I think we are obligated to make an extreme and devoted effort to choose the healthiest foods. Oh, and there’s another important and often-overlooked element of the optimal diet: enjoying the heck out of your life and every meal and snack that you choose. If nothing is available that meets my standards, it’s a great opportunity for fasting!
From my journey and my desire to share my passion for good nutrition comes Brad’s Macadamia Masterpiece, a way for all healthy eating enthusiasts to come together enjoy some of the most delicious and nutrient-dense foods on the planet. I’ve been playing around the kitchen making stuff for my family since I was a kid. Our dear family friend’s the Herson’s would give me free reign in their kitchen to create “Brad’s Beautiful Banana Bonanza” – crazy creations that started with homemade fruit roll and would include peanut butter, banana slices, marshmallows, fruit, and bits of chocolate bars.
When I started fooling around with the eventual Macadamia Masterpiece, I knew I was onto something special. Virtually everyone who’s tried a spoonful exclaims, “what is this?!”—as in they’d never tasted a nut butter so delicious. Next, they’ll beg me to confirm that the product is actually healthy, as in it’s too good to be true.
